Jake Stigers

After a successful solo acoustic tour of the UK at the end of last year taking in venues like Barfly and POP!, Jake returned in May with his full band and stormed the UK live music scene once again at venues like Live on the Park, The Cavern and The Borderline supporting Albert Lee, every date filled and the CDs they had for sale sold out 5 days before the tour came to an end. We’re pleased to confirm that:
Jake will be back in the UK touring with his band the Velvet Roots this October 13th - 29th.

Jake is a fast rising star on the US East coast and a regular fixture on the live scene packing in nearly 200 gigs a every year; his independently released first album sold over 5,000 copies just through Jake’s website which enjoys a mailing list of over 10,000 people. Radio has also proved a great supporter, with over 200 play lists across the US including Q104.3, charting in the CMJ top 10 and a mountain of live acoustic sessions as well as appearing live on BBC Radio up and down the UK. Praise has come in from Time Out (“Rock without apologies; seamless song with undeniably catchy choruses”) and ASCAP who presented him with the ASCAP Plus award for emerging music talent. Starting to attract label buzz and MTV play outs as well as several further ASCAP awards and recognition from the Songwriter’s Hall Of Fame, Jake has just completed his second album No Vacancy and a short tour of Nashville including the legendary Bluebird Café.

Jake’s style draws from an array of influences; classic jazz and British rock from his older brother’s collection, church music from his mum and southern rock n roll soul from his time in Tennessee; it’s all been mixed together to draw comparisons with the Stones, the Who, the Beatles, Lenny Kravitz, the Black Crowes, the Rembrandts and Steve Miller. Jake’s band the Velvet Roots are something pretty special as well; Argentinian bass player Roberto Ruiz, drummer Rob Draghi with Nunzio Signore and New York native Eric Katerle on guitars; between them they have recorded and performed with Lenny Kravitz, Black Crowes, Will Smith, George Clinton, Destiny’s Child, Tina Turner, Percy Sledge, Bo Diddley, Patti Rothberg, Albert Lee, Hiram Bullock and Idina Menzel; Plus many others, so you know that when this band get together something pretty special happens.
